FLOWing HIVE Brood Box Extension

A solid wooden super treated with beeswax for the FLOWing HIVE beehive type with a height of 260 mm accommodating 10 frames.

This is a super from the FLOWing HIVE beehive assembly. Wooden FLOWing HIVE supers are made from Eastern White Pine with a wall thickness of 20 mm. 

The joinery is designed as a rabbet joint. The bevelled groove and feather joint ensures connection without the need for screws or glue, although it is recommended to glue or screw the joints for better stability. Grooves are milled on the front and back sides for frames, each with a 10 mm spacing. The outer sides of the front and back are equipped with milled handles.

This extension is suitable only for the brood box and is not compatible with automatic FLOWing HIVE frames.

The following frames are suitable for this extension: Wooden Brood Box Frame for FLOWing HIVE.

They are manufactured to fit perfectly into this extension.

For transferring a nucleus, you can use Langstroth 1/1 frames with a height of 232 mm, which fit into the beehive but cannot be used for beekeeping in the long term. You can use them for short-term beekeeping, such as transferring nuclei, etc.

Disadvantage: The height of these frames is 28 mm lower than the height of the entire extension. Caution is required when inserting frames to prevent them from falling. Frames must be placed in the centre to avoid falling through.

Advantage: Easy transfer of nuclei to the FLOWing HIVE beehive with the standard Langstroth 1/1 height of 232 mm, which is commonly used for brood boxes.
