Sidebars with a width of 35 mm, of the Hoffman type, create a virtual second wall in the hive, forming an air gap between the frame and the hive. This gap acts as additional insulation and defines the frame spacing. The frames are made of Eastern White Pine.

A plastic foundation for Langstroth 2/3 frames with a height of 159 is a highly durable and long-lasting alternative to beeswax. It can be reused multiple times. Thanks to the black colour of the foundation, inspecting bee eggs and larvae is easier, and wax melting in the solar wax melter is quicker. Neither wax moths nor mice can damage it. It can be stored at any temperature. It does not arch during honey extraction.

It is inserted into Langstroth 2/3 159 frames with bottom and top grooves into which the foundation is inserted. There is no need for wiring frames. The bottom and top edges are designed to fit perfectly into the grooves in the frame. To achieve the best results, it is recommended to pour a thin layer of wax into the grooves in the frame before inserting the foundation. Bees will create a honeycomb on the foundation and firmly attach it to the frame.

The foundation is made of high-quality and highly durable food-grade plastic.
