The 35 mm wide Hofmann type side bars create a second wall in the hive and thus create an air gap between the frame and the hive, which acts as additional insulation and also defines the frame spacing. The frames are made of Scots pine.

The plastic spacer for Langstroth 3/4 height 185 frames is a very durable and long-lasting alternative to beeswax. It can be used again and again. The black colour of the mesh makes it easier to inspect the bee eggs and larvae and also makes the wax melt faster in the solar melter. Neither wax wrapper nor mice can damage it. It can be stored at any temperature. It does not hatch during honey extraction.

It is inserted into Langstroth 3/4 185 frames, which are provided with a bottom and top groove into which the mesisteel is inserted. There is no need to wire the frames. The bottom and top edges are designed to fit perfectly into the grooves in the frame. For best results, we recommend pouring a thin layer of wax into the grooves in the frame before inserting it. The bees will expose the wax work on the spacer and glue it firmly to the frame.The spacer is made of high quality and very durable food grade plastic.
