Varroa Bottom for LANGSTROTH Bee Hive

Fully Screened Varroa Bottom Board with Stainless Steel Mesh - Langstroth Design

The bottom board is made of dried spruce wood with a wall thickness of 25 mm. The bottom is equipped with a plastic monitoring tray with a thickness of 5 mm. The mesh is made of stainless steel with 3 mm openings. The bottom also includes an entrance reducer, allowing two positions. The front of the bottom is extended with a solid landing board.

Thanks to the stainless steel mesh, winter mite sampling and monitoring the hive´s condition is possible without the need for disturbance. The Varroa bottom board enables monitoring the health status, and based on the quantity and distribution of winter mites, also their activity and strength during the winter period.

During the intensity of varroa destructor, it is crucial to have an overview of the infestation status. With the Varroa bottom board, we can observe mite fall throughout the hive´s ground plan. Varroa destructors and debris fall through onto the tray, where we monitor the infestation status.
